Hey there,
I’m Sumi Shan, a multidisciplinary creative based between San Francisco and Montréal, with nearly twenty years of experience across photography, cinematography, and design. My work sits at the intersection of storytelling and strategy, helping brands, founders, and artists translate complex ideas into visual clarity and emotional connection.
I started my creative career in 2007; shooting, designing, and building identities. Over the years, I’ve led creative direction for startups, agencies, and early-stage ventures, crafting campaigns and brand systems that balance precision with feeling.
Outside the studio, I move between disciplines that feed my eye and sharpen my focus: Jiu Jitsu, endurance and strength training, travel and long walks (with a camera of course). Each practice teaches rhythm, patience, and restraint - lessons that find their way back into my creative work.
